P a g e | 50  Second year Automotive Technologies (You must register for both semester classes during registration.) COLLEGE AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS (S1) - AUT 633 COLLEGE AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE REPAIR (S2) - AUT 163 CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT Course Length: 1 Year Credits: 2 LCHS, 4 WITCC (Automotive Electrical Systems) 2 LCHS, 3 WITCC (Automotive Engine Repair) Prerequisite: Successful completion of first year automotive classes. Grade Level: 11, 12 Automotive Electrical Systems This course covers theory, diagnosis, and service practices related to the electrical systems found on today’s automobiles. The emphasis is on the battery, starting, charging, lighting, and ignition (electronic & conventional), systems. Practical applications of schematics and electrical system diagnosis using circuit theory are discussed. Semester tests are required in this course. Engine Diagnosis & Service Designed to provide instruction in shop skills in the areas of engine design and operation, pre-diagnosis, and on- car service. Includes lab experience in compression, balance, cylinder leakage testing, cooling systems service, and timing chain and oil leakage diagnosis and repair. Major engine overhaul procedures will be covered. The major project will be tearing an engine down and going through the engine wear diagnosis, engine machining procedures and engine procedures. Semester tests are required in this course. First or Second year Welding ( You must register all these classes during registration.) COLLEGE ARC Welding Intro (SMAW) (T1) - WEL147 COLLEGE ARC Welding Inter (SMAW) (T2) - WEL148 COLLEGE OXY FUEL WELDING & CUTTING (T3) - WEL120 CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT Course Length: 1 Year Credits: 2 LCHS, 3 WITCC (College ARC Welding Intro) 2 LCHS, 3 WITCC (College ARC Welding Inter) 2 LCHS, 2 WITCC (College OXY Fuel Welding & Cutting) Prerequisite: Intro to Welding is highly recommended Grade Level: 11, 12 (If the course is not full, 10th graders will be considered.) COLLEGE ARC Welding Introduction (SMAW) - WEL147 This is the first of two courses designed for students to prepare for the AWS Certification. A combined lecture and lab course, students study safety, heat settings, polarity, and the proper selection of electrodes in the arc welding process. Topics include welding on carbon steel plate using visual and destructive methods of determining weld quality to AWS standards. Semester tests are required in this course. COLLEGE ARC Welding Intermediate (SMAW) - WEL148 This is the second of two courses designed for students to prepare for the AWS certification. A combined lecture and lab course, students study safety, heat settings, polarity, penetration welding, horizontal and vertical welding, and the proper selection of electrodes in the arc welding process. Topics include welding on carbon steel plate using visual and destructive methods of determining weld quality to AWS Standards. Semester tests are required in this course.
