P a g e | 37  ADVANCED CONSTRUCTION Course Length: 1 Semester Credits: 1 Prerequisite: Introduction to Construction and Project Management Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 This course provides students with basic knowledge and skills required for construction of commercial and residential. These courses provide experiences and information regarding construction-related occupations such as carpentry, cabinetmaking, bricklaying, electrical trades, plumbing, concrete masonry, and so on. Students engage in activities such as reading blueprints, estimating, preparing building sites, framing, installing utilities, finishing surfaces, and providing maintenance. Students should take this course if they wish to pursue a career in construction, architecture, interior design, electrical or plumbing. MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGIES Course Length: 1 Semester Credits: 1 Prerequisite: Intro to Inventor Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 This course allows students to create different projects while learning a variety of skills used throughout the industrial technology field. Students will be exposed to CAD/CAM softwares, CNC lathe, laser engraving, and milling machines. Students will also learn the fundamentals of automated robotics. Labs will allow students to see the design process from start to finish as they create their projects. This class will teach students a variety of skills that will open up many different career opportunities in manufacturing and engineering. RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE Course Length: 1 Semester Credits: 1 Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 Designers Choice 1 focuses on the fundamentals of architectural design. Students learn the fundamentals of architectural drawing using the software Autodesk Revit. After students have completed introduction house plans, they will have the opportunity to create and design their dream home. When students have created their dream home, they will bring their home to life in the 3-D Virtual Reality software Lumion. Students should take this course if they want to pursue a career in architecture, interior design construction and landscaping. TECHNOLOGY MODS Course Length: 1 Semester Credits: 1 Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 This exciting computer based course is designed to provide students with a broad experience in four main career clusters of Industrial Technology. (Communications, Construction, Manufacturing, and Transportation) The students will cover the following areas: Mechatronics. Aerodynamics, Alternative Energy, Robotics, CNC lathe and mill, Electronics, Fiber Optics and Lasers, Plastics, and Engineering. Students will complete a variety of different machines. This course is for students who want to learn about a wide range of technology used in today’s careers. VIRTUAL REALITY Course Length: 1 Semester Credits: 1 Prerequisite: Designer’s Choice 1 or 2 Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12 Students will design either a residential or commercial building with skills learned in Designer’s Choice 1 or 2. Upon completion, students will use the 3-D Virtual Reality software Lumion. In Lumion, students will bring their creation to life applying different materials, scenery, and many more features. This course allows students to apply their own creativity and make their ideas come to life.
