P a g e | 36  Commercial Architecture Semester 9-12 HS Internship Semester/Year 12 HS COLLEGE FUNDAMENTALS OF TECH DRAWING – DRF113 Course Length: 1 Semester Credits: 1 LCHS, 3 WITCC Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 This class will help develop the capacity to plan in an orderly fashion, to interpret the ideas of others, and to express thoughts in an understandable manner. This class is designed for individuals interested in 2D-3D drafting. Students should take this course if they are interested in a career in mechanical engineering or any type of drafting. COLLEGE INTRO TO CAD: AUTOCAD – CAD267 Course Length: 1 Semester Credits: 1 LCHS, 2 WITCC Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 This course introduces students to standard industry practices for technical and industrial illustration. Students will use Autodesk AutoCAD software to create technical drawings of mechanical components. This course will focus on taking a 3-D part and creating a 2-D orthographic isometric and sectional drawings. Students should take this course if they are interested in pursuing a career in mechanical engineering. COLLEGE INTRO TO INVENTOR – CAD277 Course Length: 1 Semester Credits: 1 LCHS, 3 WITCC Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 This course teaches the basics of Parametric CAD solid modeling. 3-D parametric concepts with design intent and solid CAD models will be built and edited. This course focuses on using parametric solid modeling design software to develop technical drawings. Topics include patterns of features, editing, adding dimensions and creating simple assemblies. Students will learn how to print and design parts using a 3-D printer. Students will also compete in a national competition where they will create and design their own award. Students should take this course if they are interested in design, engineering, manufacturing and other high-demand careers. This class is an interesting, and highly rewarding pathway for students in the future. COMMERCIAL ARCHITECTURE Course Length: 1 Semester Credits: 1 Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 Similar to Designer’s Choice 1, Students will learn the fundamentals of architectural design in a commercial application. Students will complete an introductory commercial building and have the opportunity to create buildings such as malls, business, auditoriums, convention centers, and many more. Upon completion of their own commercial building, students will bring their creation to life in the 3-D software Lumion. In Lumion, they will design the landscape and geography around their building. This course is recommended for students that like to create and design. Students should take this course if they would like to pursue a career in commercial architecture, landscaping, interior design, civil engineering and construction. INTRODUCTION TO CONSTRUCTION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT Course Length: 1 Semester Credits: 1 Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 Introduction to Construction exposes students to the opportunities available in the architecture and construction industry, including occupations such as carpenter, electrician, plumber, heating/air conditioning technician, safety supervisor, architect, engineer, and other occupations. Students learn about the processes involved in construction projects and may engage in a variety of small projects. These courses emphasize responsibilities, qualifications, work environment, rewards, and career paths within construction-related fields.
