The Dog Pound November 2018 It’s a great day to be a Bulldog! Adviser: Sherri Permeswaran LCHS Supports Siouxland Soldiers in a big way Students and staff at LCHS showed their gratitude to the soldiers serving America through “Support Siouxland Soldiers” in October and early November. The student council, under the direction of librarian Nancy Isebrand and vice-principal Neal Utesch, organized the fund raiser. Teachers encouraged their students to bring a variety of items, including fruit snacks, tuna, hard candy, jerky, trail mix, hamburger helper, and others. Students responded well, donating enough materials to pack over 50 boxes for soldiers serving. Then the student council packed the boxes in an assembly line on November 5. The boxes have been addressed and will be sent out using money also donated by students and staff. Three LCHS grads will receive boxes from their alma mater. “Soldiers who graduated from here are going to get extra special packages,” reported Nancy Isebrand. This is the 6th year the student council has run a local Support Siouxland Soldiers fundraiser, which was first organized by Judy and Mark Zeka over 10 years ago. The LCHS SSS is part of a much larger program in Sioux City that provides meals, clothes, haircuts, toys, and other physical and psychological assistance to soldiers, veterans, and their families.
